How to edit a video with iMovie

Today I worked through an activity with our Tech class on how to edit with iMovie, and for someone who has never used iMovie before I found it extremely helpful.

I completed 3 videos total, each one I will talk about my experience and share the video.

Goats and Raisins

In this first video I worked on a little bit of everything, I learned how to shorten a video, how to split clip, how to add a title and credits, and how to control the audio volume.

One of the issues I had while learning was that I am working off of a Macbook Laptop, and one of the instructions was to right-click in order to select a split clip. I was unable to do that, so I had to go to the menu bar at the top to find it.

Other than that little difficulty, I found learning how to edit a video extremely helpful! And I will definitely be using what I have learned in my future videos.

Chickens under the Sea

For this video edit, I played around with a green screen, and how to overlap two videos together! It also had an extra component of adding audio to the video too. It was really neat to see it all come together, and allowed myself even more practice with importing the video, editing the length of the video clip and the audio clip so they match.

Bike Jump Slow Mo

For the last video that I edited my task was to split clip, and copy and edit the portion of it.  I had to tack it on the end of the video and adjust the speed of the clip to slow mo. Out of all the edits I had to do today with all the videos this one was the trickest. I had a hard time trying to find the correct speed to slow it down to, it gave options of 50%, 25%, 10% or auto. I played around with it, but I feel that I did not slow down the clip enough. That being said, I am very proud of myself and happy that I learned these skills because I feel that they will be helpful with future videos that I make and now I can confidently say I know how to edit a video.
