Screen Cast

This is a new technique that I have learned, and it is where you can capture what you, the user, are doing on the screen while talking and filming the screen portion.  This is a great way to present material, you can add audio to your PowerPoint presentation, or really anything! I made a screencast video about how to make a new post on a WordPress blog.

Screencast-O-Matic & Screencastify

These two programs were provided in class as a way to screencast on your computer. The first one I tried was Screencast-o-Matic, and I will be honest I had some difficulty with it. After signing up, I could not seem to get a screencast to work. So I moved to the next program, Screencastify, this one went a little bit better. I was able to sign up, download the program, and get it onto my computer. But, if you are an avid reader of my blog, technology doesn’t come smoothly to me. I somehow deleted the ability to screencast and tried to re-download the application. I was unsuccessful in both programs, so I decided to ask for help.

As I was waiting for help to arrive, a teacher in a different class mentioned screencast on QuickTime, so I thought I would look into it.

QuickTime

Now I found this extremely easy to use, and I think it is because QuickTime was already downloaded onto my laptop. But it was a click of three buttons, QuickTime Player application, file, and new screen recording. When I was testing it out I believe it is very user-friendly. I am very excited about knowing how to screencast because I think this will be a useful tool throughout my schooling and career.

I made a video about how to add a new post onto a WordPress blog.
